Demand for an unwanted kiss
After rocking “Hate Story 3”, Zareen Khan found herself in another uncomfortable situation.
Years later, she is finally opening up about the intimate scenes she was tricked into doing in “Aksar 2” – something she specifically wanted to avoid.
From Veer to Sitaargi
Zareen made her Bollywood debut in 2010 with Salman Khan’s “Veer”.
But it was “Hate Story 3” that really brought her recognition, with its intimate scenes grabbing everyone’s attention.
Broken promise
“Before signing Aksar 2, I had clearly told director Anant Mahadevan that I didn’t want to do intimate scenes,” says Zareen.
“He told me, ‘We are not making Hate Story here.’ I was relieved!”
The harsh reality
“When shooting began, I was shocked. Suddenly kissing was a must in every other scene,” she says. “It wasn’t a question of me being decent – I had done bold scenes before, but those filmmakers were very clear from the start.”

The behind-the-scenes drama
The situation worsened when Zareen confronted the director.
“He was never going to agree to what he had promised me in front of the producers,” she says.
“He would tell them one thing, then come to me and say the producers were pressuring him.”
The final insult
The controversy grew so intense that Zareen was not invited to the premiere of her own film.
“Somehow I became the bad guy,” she sighs.
Fighting typecasting
What caused Zareen’s initial hesitation was a desire to avoid being typecast.
“After one film, you start getting similar offers,” she explains.
“I had already taken a big risk with ‘Hate Story’ and didn’t want to be pigeonholed into the same kind of roles.”
Franchise betrayal
What made the betrayal even more painful was Zareen’s excitement to be part of the “Aksar” franchise.
“The first film with Emraan Hashmi was so good,” she recalls.
“I was so happy to be part of such a hit franchise, but it all went so wrong.”
