Diwali is just a few days away, and the excitement level for film fans is already high!

The response to bookings for Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s most-awaited film, ‘Thamma,’ has been phenomenal.

This spooky comedy is already generating a strong buzz and garnering headlines even before its release.

Thousands of tickets were sold on the first day

Believe me, the figures are impressive. According to reports (sacnilk), ‘Thamma’ has earned ₹63.36 lakh on the first day of bookings. This is no small feat!

A total of 20,798 tickets have been sold across 2D, IMAX 2D, and even 4DX screens. This clearly demonstrates the eagerness of people to see this horror-comedy on the big screen.

5-Day Long Opening Weekend

The filmmakers have also made a strong bet. ‘Thamma’ is releasing on Tuesday (October 21), which means it will take full advantage of the Diwali holidays and have a solid 5-day long opening weekend at the box office.

However, it will face some competition as Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ is also releasing on the same occasion.

A ‘Bloody Love Story’ of Vampires

So what is ‘Thamma’? It is the fifth film in the Maddock horror comedy universe (such as ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’), directed by Aditya Sarpotdar.

The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal alongside Ayushmann and Rashmika.

The story revolves around the world of vampires, which the makers are calling a “bloody love story.”

The teaser already set the stage on fire; what begins as a love story turns into a thriller with Nawaz’s entry.

How different is ‘Thamma’ from ‘Loka’?

Ever since the teaser came out, people have been comparing it to another successful supernatural film of this year, ‘Lokah Chapter 1’.

But Ayushmann Khurrana has spoken openly about this. He said, “We are very high on comedy… Our film is more ‘massy’ because it will penetrate deeper into Hindi-speaking markets.

‘Loka’ may appeal to some multiplex audiences, but our story and situations are completely different; there are no significant similarities.”
