Swara Bhaskar expressed grief and anger over the brutal murder of a servant in Kalkaji Temple.

Why did the issue of assault over ‘prasad’ arise?
The jugalbandi of distributing food in the Kalkaji temple gave birth to a heinous incident.
On Friday night, a small argument between some men who came to ask for ‘Chunni Prasad’ and the temple’s 35-year-old sevak, Yogendra Singh, escalated so much that he was brutally beaten up with iron rods and sticks in his hands.
14 years of service, ended in a moment
Yogendra Singh served in the temple for the last 14-15 years.
He used to perform every responsibility from the mother’s shraddha-bhandaar to the distribution of prasad very well.
But late in the evening, he lost his life just by saying “wait a little”.
How did the argument turn into a sudden one?
The attackers who came to the temple in dual form first demanded prasad directly.
When Yogendra politely asked for a few more minutes, he was being harassed, “Why are you the only one giving it?”
Coincidentally, CCTV footage showed what happened next.
Painful scene captured in CCTV
The camera showed 10-15 people attacking Yogendra with iron rods and sticks. The crowd saw the spectacle, but no one intervened.
Yogendra lay unconscious on the ground – his soul was not even felt.
Swara Bhaskar’s broken heart
Actress Swara Bhaskar wrote on X, “This is absolutely ghastly and horrific!!!
Lynching people to death has become a norm in India… jarring and chilling to the core.”
Her anger was not limited to just words; she said, “We have turned ourselves into demons.”
Question for our society
Will we really see violence in every small matter? Does the sanctity of the temple and the devotion of the devotees mean that our tolerance should be destroyed under its cover?
This is not just a matter of temple, it is a reflection of our thinking.
Arrests made soon, will the punishment be big?
The police have arrested five accused. Now the question is whether the justice system will move as fast as the innocent’s life was taken?
We will be waiting for this ceremony in the coming days.
What should happen next?
It is our responsibility to remain silent. If humanity is ignored so much on a small demand, then we will have to ask ourselves – is this the country we want to live in?
Devotees should definitely come to the temples, but they should show again that tolerance can also be shared along with devotion.
