Sussanne charges fees on the basis of square feet.

• Normal range: ₹1,200 to ₹2,000 per square feet
• No commission: She does not take any additional percentage on the material purchased by the client
• Advance: Ensure 30% advance before the project starts

For example, for a 1,500 square feet luxury apartment in Mumbai, an average budget of ₹25–30 lakhs will have to be kept.

This includes designing, purchasing materials after final approval, and room-by-room implementation.

Initial challenges

When Sussanne launched ‘The Charcoal Project’ in 2011, people tried to ignore her by just tagging her as a “celebrity designer”.

At that time, everyone was busy selling the best furniture, but no one had thought of conceptual home services.

She did not lose patience amidst criticism, kept reinvesting and today Charcoal has stood strong for more than 14 years.

Financial struggle

Along with being a creative mind, Sussanne was not that good at mathematics.

She had to take help from her family to handle the financial aspects of the business.

Her brother-in-law explained the formulas of a box full of Excel sheets and taught her how to plan cash flow.

This guidance gives a solid grounding to her company today.

A glimpse of her personal life

She started her new life by marrying Hrithik Roshan in 2000, but the couple got divorced in 2014.

Their two sons—Rehan and Hridhaan—are still enjoying a happy childhood under the co-parenting of Sussanne and Hrithik.

Now Sussanne is living life with new enthusiasm with her boyfriend Arslan Goni.
