That night in March 2023 was the difference between life and death for Sushmita Sen. While undergoing intense training for the shooting of her web series “Aarya,” Sushmita suddenly suffered a heart attack.

Later, it was discovered that 95% of her arteries were blocked! Doctors immediately performed angioplasty and inserted a stent. But surprisingly, Sushmita remained conscious throughout the procedure.

“I wanted to remain conscious”

Sushmita shared this astonishing experience in a recent interview. She said, “I told the doctors not to sedate me. I’m a control freak and I don’t like sedation.”

She continued to talk to the doctors throughout the surgery, even asking them to hurry up because she wanted to return to her team in Jaipur.

New Perspective on Life

This incident changed Sushmita’s outlook on life. She said, “When you experience a conscious heart attack, you realize how close death was.

I also learned that if you survive, you shouldn’t look back.” For her, this heart attack has become a transient event.

Responsibility of 500 people and the struggle to return

Most interestingly, immediately after the surgery, Sushmita insisted on going to the shooting. She said, “When you are responsible for a team of 500 people, you also think about their daily wages.”

Finally, after 15 days of struggle, the doctors allowed her to go to the shooting of ‘Aarya’. This incident became a true example of Sushmita’s liveliness and professional commitment.
