Superman blew Bollywood’s mind! 7 crores in one day

Hollywood film ‘Superman’ earned more than Rajkummar and Shanaya’s films combined

beat Bollywood films on the very first day

Hollywood’s ‘Superman‘, released this Friday, has made a blockbuster start at the Indian box office.

This David Corenswet-starrer film has beaten Bollywood films ‘Maalik’ and ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan’ released on the same day.

Great opening day collection

According to initial estimates, ‘Superman’ earned around Rs 7 crore in all languages on its first day.

This is a great start for the DC ‘superhero’ film in India.

Ahead of both Bollywood films

Surprisingly, in comparison to Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Maalik’ and Vikrant Massey-Shanaya Kapoor’s ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan’, released on the same day, ‘Superman’ collected more than the combined earnings of both the films.

While ‘Malik’ earned around Rs 3.5 crore on the first day, Shanaya’s debut film ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan’ collected only Rs 35 lakh.

The total earnings of both these films are also less than the first-day collection of ‘Superman’.

Earnings may increase further on the weekend

If ‘Superman’ maintains its pace of earnings at the box office, then this film can reach the figure of Rs 35-40 crore by its first weekend.

However, for this, the film will have to earn in double digits on Saturday and Sunday.

About the film

Written and directed by James Gunn, ‘Superman’ gives a new and emotional look to this iconic character.

In the film, David Corenswet plays the role of Superman, Rachel Brosnahan is Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult is seen as Lex Luthor.

The increasing popularity of superhero films among Indian audiences can be a big reason for the success of this film.
