Sridevi’s Chennai home: A first home filled with memories

A unique glimpse of Sridevi’s first home, which was lovingly decorated by Boney Kapoor.

Inside Sridevi’s Chennai home

When Sridevi made it big in the film industry, one of the first things she did was buy a house in her hometown.

Now, this Chennai home has become something magical – a living museum of memories that Boney, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor cherish dearly.

The story begins from the main entrance

Step inside through the side door with Janhvi, and you are instantly enveloped in nostalgia.

This home doesn’t whine vintage style – it screams it! Large paintings hang on the walls while treasures from the family’s travels around the world fill every corner.

Those gorgeous chandeliers? They’re not just lighting fixtures but ambiance setters that transform the entire space.

Cosy corners in a maximalist dream

Despite its grand size, the home feels strangely homely. Big sofas invite you to sit and linger.

Peek into Boney’s portion and you’ll find what Janhvi jokingly calls “our 10,000 photos” – a father’s pride on full display.

Hidden gems of the other living room

Move a little further and you’ll find another equally impressive living area.

A clean white wall with gold embellishments serves as a backdrop for more comfortable seating arrangements.

Art lovers can spot paintings by Subhash Awchat and a special artwork brought by Sridevi from Bali.

Even more touching are Sridevi’s own paintings that adorn the walls – her creativity is still alive.

Boney’s loving effort

“This was the first property that mummy bought,” Janhvi says, explaining that the house needed major work after Sridevi left, due to leaks and structural problems.

Boney took the renovation as a personal mission and kept the girls away until the big reveal on Khushi’s birthday.

“It was a big moment,” shares Janhvi, “we grew up here and didn’t go back after Mummy left.”

Stairs of Memories

The staircase wall tells the story of the family through countless photographs.

This “wall of memories” was Sridevi’s idea. Among the frames is something really special – a rare photo from Boney and Sridevi’s secret wedding in Shirdi, which she kept hidden until she became pregnant.

Upstairs Surprises

The upstairs floor holds unexpected delights: a terrace filled with plants that offers an escape from the noise of the city, Janhvi’s beloved gym (her “sanctuary”), and a stunning bathroom that seems to have been brought from Greece with its glass ceiling, stone sink and artistic touches.

This isn’t just a house – it’s where Sridevi’s spirit lives on through the spaces she created and the memories she left behind.
