Shweta Tripathi at IFFI talks about her journey from acting to production and the film Mirzapur

Film Festival
Shweta Tripathi Sharma arrived at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) not just as an actor but as a storyteller.
For Shweta, who started with Masaan, festivals are like home, but this time she came with the intention of doing something different.
Her words now reflected not only a passion for acting, but also a determination to change cinema.
If she couldn’t find food, she made it herself
Shweta’s entry into production wasn’t part of a plan, but rather a necessity. She says, “If you can’t find food you like, either find a chef or make it yourself.”
She felt that the kind of in-depth stories she wanted to tell weren’t reaching her. So what, then? She decided to create a ‘table’ where creative people could sit and work on new ideas.
New Beginnings with Tillotama Shome
She is very excited about her first major production project, Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan.
It’s a queer love story in which she will share the screen with Tillotama Shome. Tillotama has always been Shweta’s favorite.
She believes that it’s important to celebrate all shades of love, and this film will tell the story of the LGBTQ+ community without any filter.
Mirzapur: The Big Screen
The biggest good news for fans is about Mirzapur. Playing the character of Golu Gupta was an emotional rollercoaster for Shweta—it was filled with more grief than anger.
But now she’s ready to step into the big screen. She promises that Mirzapur: The Movie will be massive in scale and will be a blast to watch in theaters.
Discomfort Will Bring Change
When it came to her future legacy, Shweta didn’t offer a definitive answer. She wants audiences to feel a little “uncomfortable” after watching her films.
Because when we’re uncomfortable, that’s when we ask questions, and that’s when real change happens in society. Shweta is here not just for entertainment but to ring the bells of the mind.
