Shine Tom Chacko’s terrible accident
Shine Tom Chacko’s father, C.P. Chacko (73), died in that terrible car accident in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. Now, for the first time, Shine has expressed his heart’s pain.
“When I woke up, the car had already crashed.”
“I was lying on the back seat. I kept waking up and asking Papa for biscuits. Papa gave me biscuits two or three times.
Then, when I woke up, the car had already crashed. Papa never spoke to us after that,” Shine said in a conversation with The Q.
Life was shattered on the road
The accident happened so suddenly that they did not even know how they came onto the road.
“Mummy was asking, ‘Why are we lying on this road? Where are we going?’ Earlier, I had only seen accidents of others, but when it happened to me… I kept standing on the road and kept crying, ‘Someone help us, someone take us to the hospital’,” he said.
Brother did not have even a scratch
The strange thing was that Shine’s brother Joe John Chacko, who was sitting in the front seat, did not have even a scratch.
“I was thinking, ‘How is he walking without any injury? Will he fall while walking?’ because the car was completely destroyed. I called out to Papa, but there was no response.”
“30 stitches have been done.”
Shine said that he is not sure about some details because he had taken sleeping pills as part of rehab.
That is why his father never allowed him to drive. Shine suffered serious injuries in the accident and got 30 stitches.
“I asked the doctor, ‘Will it take about 10 stitches?’ The doctor said, ’10? There are 10 to 30 stitches here.
Shine also revealed that he suffered a small crack in his back. His brother Joe, on the other hand, suffered injuries from the seatbelt.
Family pain
Shine’s mother suffered a hip injury. “Mummy’s dislocated hip was put back in place.
She is lying down now. There is a small crack in her hip.”
Shine said his mother is yet to fully accept his father’s death and often asks about him. However, Shine’s siblings are with him now.
About the accident
Shine was travelling with his family – father C.P. Chacko, mother Maria and brother Joe – along with driver Aneesh to Bengaluru when a lorry coming from the opposite direction hit their car.
C.P. Chacko died on the spot, while Shine, Maria, Joe and the driver were rushed to a nearby hospital.
On June 9, Shine and Mariah came straight from the hospital to their home in Mundar for the funeral.
In the pictures, Shine was seen bidding a tearful farewell to his father.
Shine’s brother and sister, Sumi and Riya, also came from New Zealand to attend their father’s funeral.
