EOW drama in ₹60.4 crore case

A few weeks ago, Shilpa and her husband, Raj Kundra, were booked by the Economic Offences Wing for cheating.

Complainant Deepak Kothari alleges that between 2015 and 2023, an investment of ₹60.4 crore was made in Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, which he started paying for in the name of expansion, but then this money was spent on personal expenses.

Now EOW is investigating to get to the bottom of this scam.

Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd and investment dispute

Kothari said that Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd took money in the form of a loan-cum-investment deal, but instead of returning the money went to the wrong place.

In the court, NCLT Mumbai found the company in financial distress on 4 October 2024 and ordered liquidation.

Now the same case is pending before EOW with a forensic audit.

Shilpa-Raj’s clearance: No crime

Advocate Prashant Patil said that the matter was purely civil, the question of criminality does not arise.

He said that the auditors have submitted detailed cash flow statements and the Chartered Accountants have visited the police station 15 times with evidence.

The EOW has a copy of the NCLT Liquidation Order and every document is clear.

‘Baseless and Malicious’ Elijab

Patil called the allegations “baseless” and “slanderous,” aimed only at maligning the image of Kundra-Shetty.

Their lawyer warned that appropriate action will be taken against those found guilty.

Currently, Shilpa-Raj are cooperating with the investigation process with full confidence.

The battle ahead

Bastian Bandra has closed, but the case and court battles are still going on. Only time will tell when the EOW will close this ₹60 crore plot.
