From comedy to deep talk

On the stage of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the duo of Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty got into an emotional chat amidst laughter.

Reminiscing the 2002 hit Kaante, the duo revealed about the time when there was no ego in multi-starrer films – there was only a desire to learn.

Truth of multi-starrer: “Fighting Insecurity”

On Kapil’s question, Sanjay replied boldly, “Why do multi-starrers fail today? Insecurity is behind this.”

He reminded us that in his time, he worked with Dilip sahab, Sanjeev Kumar, Shammi uncle, but there was no such thing as ego.

“Mere lines Anna bhi bole ya main, bas picture acchi banani thi,” he said.

Confrontation and learning from Suniel Shetty

Suniel shared that even after the success of Balwaan, he was rejected by calling him a “wooden actor”.

“Log bole ki wapas Udupi jao, restaurant mein kaam karo,” he said laughingly.

He definitely felt bad, but he looked at his peers as a way to learn acting.

“Look at Sanju yaar, look at Jackie dada, Chi Chi bhaiya, Sunny paaji,” Sunil said that he took inspiration from their walk, personality and work.

Power of friendship

Both the stars agreed that the opportunity to learn from each other was the key to their success.

When Sunil had doubts about acting, he got confidence by asking Sanjay.

This friendship not only helped him to survive in the industry but also gave him the courage to learn by accepting his shortcomings.

Fear of social media

Both Sanjay and Sunil expressed concern about the new era. Sunil clearly said, “Virtual world has scared everyone.”

He said that the instantaneous fear of feedback surrounds today’s actors at every step, due to which insecurity and confusion are increasing.

Sanjay’s tough love

On the advice front, Sanjay said, “The more humble you remain, the more you will progress.

Don’t go crazy with one hit! Pehle 40 saal industry mein tikake dikhao.”

This simple message both warns and inspires newcomers to stay grounded.

The journey ahead

This conversation on Kapil’s stage was a memorable one, where, after laughter, friendly advice, varied industry experiences and explaining the new era were taken up.
