“Inequality on the set” revealed

Navin Kasturia, a newcomer who has made a mark in the OTT world with his strong acting, has recently revealed the bitter truth of Bollywood.

During the promotion of his new film Salakaar, he described the attitude of climbing up and down the stairs of a school in respect, which is seen only in India.

Big stars and juniors

Naveen says that hundreds of people working on the set are a family, but big stars sometimes treat juniors and crew members badly.

“In India, seniors have the feeling that the one who earns less has the right to present him in a wrong way,” Naveen told Bollywood Hungama.

Question on gate guard’s namaste

When the security guard stands at the gate and says ‘namaste’ in a private society in Mumbai, Naveen is unable to understand this custom.

“Maybe no one ever stood guard and complained, and it became a practice,” he said critically.

Equality abroad

Naveen said that when big stars shoot abroad, people of all levels get equal treatment, irrespective of economic background.

“There is no separate mistreatment of the crew, no matter who it is, because there is no hierarchy in that culture,” he said, speaking from what he has seen.

Respect is universal

He believes that no person should have to face disrespect based on his role, rank, or rate.

“Respect should be universal—everyone deserves it,” Naveen asserts.

The journey of Naveen Kasturia

Naveen started his career as an assistant director, but his role as Naveen Bansal in TVF Pitchers (2015) made him a household name overnight.

After that, Abhilash Sharma’s jibber-like truth in Aspirants (2021) and the story of a small-town Hindi copywriter in Thinkistan (2019) confirmed his ability.

Will be seen in ‘Salakaar’

Further developing his skills, Naveen has worked with stars like Mouni Roy and Mukesh Rishi in Salakaar.

His character in the film will also be seen dealing with the complexities of hierarchy—this may highlight his views on inequality on the set more deeply on screen.

On the path of change

This statement of Naveen Kasturia reminds us that no matter which industry it is, humanity should not be a priority.

The seeds of equality on the set will germinate only when the big stars themselves change and give the juniors as much respect as they themselves want.
