Lockdown gives home a new identity

When the global lockdown brought everything to a standstill, Masaba Gupta looked around.

“One day I saw—this is my whole world,” she said at the recent Urban Company Revamp launch.

From that moment on, she realized that home is not just a place to live, but a canvas for your creativity.

It started with Pinterest boards

Earlier, Masaba had never thought about how much the environment around her mattered.

Then she brought her favorite Pinterest ideas into the house.

She changed the color of the walls, arranged plant beds and gave a little “Masaba touch” to every corner.

The empty shell of the wedding day

On the day of her wedding to Satyadeep Mishra in January 2023, her own house was ready—there were bare walls everywhere except for one clean room.

In the midst of the tiring wedding rituals, Masaba saw this bare shell and realized that now the whole house is her playground.

Satyadeep Mishra’s “moving furniture” complaint

Masaba calls herself a “serial redecorator”. “I’ve changed my diyas, curtains, plants here, sofa there…” After rearranging so many times, Satyadeep joked, “Enough now, are you allergic to anything?”

Every month, guests arrive and they are surprised by a new layout—this is Masaba’s style.

Big challenges in small spaces in Mumbai

When you are a shopaholic, the question of “where to keep it?”

arises for every new purchase in a compact flat in Mumbai. \

Masaba said that when she buys something impulsively, there is no place for it, so she sends it to her mother, Neena Gupta’s house.

Motherhood made her declutter

After the birth of her daughter, Matara in 2024, Masaba changed her goal.

“In this era of overconsumption, we only want essential and functional things,” she said.

Now, her focus is on baby-safe and multi-purpose items so that the house remains clutter-free and safe for her daughter as well.

organized home, better professional life

Masaba believes that a neat home improves your work, too.

If things are organized all around, the mind remains clear and creativity flows.

This is why she molded every corner of the house according to her needs.

It is not a home, it is an experience

Now Masaba’s Mumbai duplex is not just walls and furniture—it is her evolving experience.

Where lockdown showed boundaries, she took inspiration from it and redefined her lifestyle.

Every day, small changes in the house give her new ideas and Satyadeep Mishra’s jokes make this journey more fun.
