Isha Koppikar and Nagarjuna’s unique story for art – When the actress accepted painful slaps for realism

When Isha Koppikar got slapped 15 times
Have you ever wondered how real the slaps shown in movies are? Today I am going to tell you about one such incident that happened with Isha Koppikar, which surprised me!
“Slap me for real!”
In a recent interview, Isha revealed that during the shooting of the movie “Chandralekha” in 1998, she herself asked South superstar Nagarjuna to slap her for real. “I am a dedicated artist and wanted to act with the real method,” Isha said.
One to two and two to fifteen!
When Nagarjuna slapped her gently, Isha did not feel it. She said, “Naag, I want that feeling. I am not feeling anything right now.”
And then what happened? The director was not getting the right expressions in the scene, and kept demanding retakes. The result? A full 15 slaps!
Scars on the face, experience in the heart
By the time the shoot was over, Esha’s face had visible scars.
“Poor Nagarjuna was sitting next to me and saying sorry,” Esha recalled.
“I told him – I was the one who said it, why are you apologising?”
Sacrifice for art
This incident was from the early days of Esha’s career. She was doing only her second film then.
But look at her passion – enduring so much pain for her art! How many actors can do this?
Journey in Bollywood
Later Esha worked in many films like “Krishna Cottage”, “Pinjar”, “Kya Kool Hain Hum” and “Don”.
Although she did not get the recognition she deserved, no one can deny her dedication.
Still active
Recently Esha appeared in the Tamil science-fiction film “Ayalaan” (2024).
Despite working in multiple industries, she considers this incident to be one of the most memorable moments of her career.
Now imagine, can you show this much dedication towards your work? Isha’s passion for the art is truly commendable.
