Celebrating failure
When Farah Khan’s 2010 film “Tees Maar Khan” flopped at the box office, not everyone was sympathetic. In fact, some industry insiders were even partying!
“In our industry, people are happier about someone’s failure than their success,” Farah revealed recently.
In an open chat at Jackky Bhagnani and Rakul Preet Singh’s house, she opened up about her colleagues’ reaction to her film’s flop.
“When the film flopped, there was literally a celebration,” she revealed. “People I worked with were saying things like, ‘Ab aayi na line pe’.”
Gen Z favourite?
Interestingly, the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer has found new life among the younger audience.
Despite the commercial failure at the time, Farah observed something surprising:
“Tees Maar Khan is now a legend among Gen Z. They don’t care about my other films. They think it’s the best!”

Beyond Sheila Ki Jawani
The heist comedy is mostly remembered for its viral item song “Sheila Ki Jawani”, but that catchy tune couldn’t save the film at the box office. Despite the big stars, audiences didn’t like the film.
Looking Back
It’s not easy to talk about professional failures, especially in Bollywood where image is everything.
But Farah’s honest perspective shows that the industry often drags people down further rather than helping them when they’re already at the bottom.
It’s funny how attitudes change with time. A film that was once mocked by the industry has now found a new audience that loves it for what it is.
