Shalini Pandey supports Deepika Padukone’s ‘8-hour’ demand and questions Bollywood.

Deepika Padukone’s ‘8-hour’ demand
A major and important debate is currently raging in Bollywood, sparked by a decision by actress Deepika Padukone.
After becoming a mother, Deepika reportedly withdrew from filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Spirit’ because she demanded she work only eight hours a day.
Furthermore, there were reports of her withdrawal from Prabhas’s film ‘Kalki 2’.
This issue has been widely discussed in some industry circles, but now Shalini Pandey has given the conversation a new direction by speaking out in support of Deepika.
‘She should get whatever she wants!’ – Shalini Pandey
Actress Shalini Pandey, who herself starred in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s hit film ‘Arjun Reddy’, has strongly defended Deepika Padukone.
Shalini said in an interview that she has been following Deepika since college, and that she is an incredible actor.
Shalini praised Deepika, saying that she was the first woman to speak out on a serious issue like mental health.
She clearly stated, “She should get whatever she wants.”
Shalini believes that a woman with such power has every right to set work rules according to her convenience.
Deepika’s counterattack: Why the double standards?
Deepika Padukone raised a very important point amid this controversy, exposing the double standards prevalent in the industry.
Speaking to CNBC-TV18, she candidly stated that she doesn’t care if asserting one’s needs as a woman seems “pushy.”
She made a shocking revelation: “It’s no secret that many male superstars in our Indian film industry have been working only 8 hours a day for years, but it never makes the news.”
She further explained that many prominent male actors work 8 hours a day only from Monday to Friday, and don’t work on weekends.
Her question is simple: When male actors do this, it’s quiet, but when a woman demands the same for her child, it becomes big news?
‘There’s still a long fight ahead’
Shalini Pandey admitted that demanding things like equal pay in the industry is still a long way off.
She said that veteran actresses like Shabana Azmi have fought for women’s rights, and now it’s the duty of her generation to demand the same for themselves.
Even if they don’t always succeed, it’s important to continue the fight.
Deepika’s move isn’t just about demanding an 8-hour shift; This is a demand for better balance and respect for women in the workplace.
