Bobby Deol Reveals Why He Dropped the Name Sunny-Deol; Aryaman and Dharam’s Emotional Naming Story.

Sweet Childhood Dream
On Raj Shamani’s podcast, Bobby Deol revealed that he had a strange idea as a child.
He wanted to have four children—all named after his siblings—when he grew up and got married.
Sunny Deol, Laali, Anu, and Bobby… all of them could be translated to different genders.
This innocent thought sparked a lot of laughter and fun in the family.
Desire for a Daughter
When planning his first child with his wife, Tanya, Bobby suddenly expressed his desire for a daughter instead of a son.
He thought he wanted the same love and attention he received from his sisters.
When he asked his parents, he learned that his other sister, Anu, also wanted to name their daughter “Nicky.”
Bobby immediately said, “If it’s a daughter, I’ll name her Nicky.”
This made his sister emotional, as nine years later, she too had a daughter named Nicky.
Why not Sunny Deol?
When their son was born for the first time, the family was filled with joy at Gadar’s success.
Bobby was tempted to name him Sunny Deol, so that the memory of his elder brother would always remain fresh.
But the family said, “Son, at this point, Papa will call him Sunny Deol!”
Bobby laughed and understood that some consent was necessary.
Finally, the son was named Aryaman, and everyone’s faces lit up upon hearing it.
Dispute over the name ‘Dharam’
When the second son was born, Bobby again teased him.
He thought, “Dharmendra’s grandmother used to lovingly call Papa Dharam—my son will have the same affection.”
But the family again agreed that calling him by Papa’s name would feel awkward.
Bobby persisted, saying, “Who will call him Papa? Everyone will say, ‘Son, Papa.'”
The family laughed and refused, telling him to find another choice.
The story didn’t end there—suddenly, the second son truly became Dharam Deol!
Heartbeats of Love
God found a unique way to fulfill Bobby’s wishes for each of his daughters and sons.
Sunny-Deol, Nicky, Aryaman, Dharam… each name holds a memory, a relationship, a story.
Hearing the love and fun behind these four names, one realizes that even a little bit of family conflict is a companion to happiness.
