Pallavi Joshi accused TMC, The Bengal Files trailer was banned in Kolkata

Ban on ‘The Bengal Files’ trailer in Kolkata
The film The Bengal Files is in the headlines these days, even before its release. The reason is the ban on its trailer launch in Kolkata.
On August 16, which was the anniversary of Direct Action Day, the makers had planned to release the trailer, but at the last moment, the administration did not allow it.
Argument between Vivek Agnihotri and the police
After the trailer launch was canceled, the writer-director of the film Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri also had a heated argument with the police.
He alleged that the state government is acting arbitrarily and raised the question – “Does a second constitution run in West Bengal?”
Pallavi Joshi held TMC responsible
The film’s producer and actress Pallavi Joshi also spoke openly on this issue.
She says that this step was taken by the Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee.
Pallavi said –
“This was clearly done by the ruling party of the state. We knew there would be opposition, but did not think that we would not be able to show the trailer at all.”
“The government should have helped”
Pallavi believes that if an important event has happened in history and the filmmakers want to bring it to the fore, then the government should support them.
She lamented that the entire team was disappointed by this ban – “This is our work, our hard work. The government should have cooperated, not banned it.”
Starcast and release date of the film
The Bengal Files is written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar in important roles.
It will be released in theaters on 5 September 2025.
Discussion increased due to controversy
The ban on the trailer launch has further increased the curiosity about the film.
People are debating this decision on social media – some are calling it censorship, while others are linking it to political reasons.
Whatever the case, this controversy has brought the film into the headlines even before its release.
