ALT EFF 2025: films change the story of the environment

ALT EFF 2025: An environmental film festival with Shriya Pilgaonkar and Pan Nalin.

ALT EFF 2025

A cinematic festival of the environment

The sixth edition of ALT EFF, the country’s largest environmental film festival, is taking place in Mumbai from December 4th to 14th, 2025.

The eleven-day festival will showcase feature films, documentaries, and student films from around the world, focusing on pressing topics like climate change and a sustainable future.

Discussion will reach every home

The highlight of this year’s festival is the new “Watch Party” initiative.

Now, any individual, school, or organization can organize a screening of these environmental films in their home or neighborhood.

This initiative will take the festival out of cinema halls and reach the general public.

Two big names on the jury

This year, actress Shriya Pilgaonkar and renowned filmmaker Pan Nalin are joining the festival jury.

Shriya says, “This festival isn’t just about showing films, but about creating awareness and empathy.”

Stories Can Change the World

Festival founder Kunal Khanna says, “Films can inspire people.

Our goal is to bring stories that remind us that protecting the Earth is no longer an option, but a necessity.”

The Combination of Art and Environment

Pan Nalin, whose films are deeply rooted in nature, believes that “this festival is a movement that reminds us of our relationship with nature.

Here, filmmakers and environmentalists come together to explore new possibilities.”

New Ideas, New Solutions

Programming Director Anaka Koundaniya explains that this year’s films showcase the entire journey from climate concern to solutions.

They include both global and local stories that honestly depict the relationship between nature and humanity.
