Director Kanu Behl’s film Agra isn’t getting shows in multiplexes. Manoj Bajpayee offered support.

Multiplexes Slap Small Films
Kanu Behl’s new film, ‘Agra,’ is facing difficulties even before its release. The director revealed on social media that multiplex chains are refusing to give shows to his film.
It’s being overshadowed by big-budget films. Behl, in frustration, tweeted seeking help from the audience, saying, “There’s no space left in multiplexes for small films.”
Manoj Bajpayee raised his voice
Seeing Behl’s plea, veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee also expressed his support. He said, “This fight has been going on for years. Independent films don’t get the respect they deserve.”
He urged everyone to tag theater chains and raise their voices for small, meaningful cinema. Behl responded, “This fight never ends; you’ve been fighting for years.” Actor Saiyami Kher also described the situation as sad.

Recognition at Cannes
‘Agra’ has already received international recognition. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where it received rave reviews. The film depicts an Agra you’ve never seen before.
It’s a bold story that explores the psychological pressures, masculinity, and desires within a household.
Big films have taken over the world
The film was supposed to release today, but big releases like Ajay Devgn’s ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ have taken over screens across the country.
This has made it impossible for projects like ‘Agra’ to find a place in theaters.
This is the same struggle that meaningful cinema often faces – it doesn’t even get a chance to reach the audience.
